1. The application of plastic laser welding in automobile parts
In order to improve the efficiency of automobile engine, one way is to reduce the weight of automobile body as far as possible. Plastic, resin, special glass and other materials are more and more widely used in automobile parts because of their light weight, corrosion resistance, good stability and other characteristics.
The traditional automotive engine intake manifold material is cast aluminum, as shown in Figure 4. Since the 1980s, plastic engine intake manifold has been widely used instead of cast aluminum in the manufacture of intake manifold because of its smooth wall, high efficiency and light weight. The use of laser welding can not only produce more complex structure and shape of the intake manifold, but also good welding quality, high strength, small residual stress, no welding slag, easy to automate production, therefore, laser welding technology has gradually become an important welding means of the new plastic intake manifold manufacturing. With the progress of society, the appearance design of automobile is paid more and more attention. As an important functional device of automobile, the manufacturing process of taillight is more and more important. Figure 5 shows the use of laser welding technology to weld lights, without changing the color of transparent materials, good tightness, no water leakage and air leakage, high weld joint strength and beautiful appearance.
The gas-liquid separator in Figure 6 is one of the important components of the automobile fuel tank system, which is mainly composed of the upper cover and shell of the injection POM. The product packaging is completed by laser welding, which has high process stability and high welding strength.

For the car dashboard shell, as shown in FIG. 7, it is not only required to be beautiful in appearance, but also strict in tightness and corrosion resistance. The instrument panel welded by plastic laser welding technology has good sealing and high bonding strength.
Other such as automobile electronic door opener, transmission, airbag, oil pressure sensor and engine sensor, plastic laser welding technology is also widely used in them.
2. Application of plastic laser welding in medical instruments
Plastic laser welding technology is mainly used in medical equipment, syringe system, medical electronic equipment, artificial transplantation and ostomy products.
The earwax protector obtained by mask welding, as shown in FIG. 8, is only a few millimeters in size, and the film and washer are tightly welded. Due to the non-contact nature of laser welding, the sterility of the product is guaranteed.
Among high-end medical products, Globo welding process is applied to artificial fistula care products, as shown in Figure 9. For the tip protective cap, as shown in FIG. 10, synchronous welding process can be adopted. Welding products environmental protection, stable weld performance.
Biomedical analytical instruments are required to be sterile and free of chemical substances. Laser welding, as a non-contact welding method, has a small heat-affected zone in the welding process. A liquid analysis chip in a biomedical analysis instrument, shown in Figure 11, contains a system of microchannels several centimeters long and tens or even hundreds of microns wide, typically used to collect or analyze liquid materials. The micro-flow channel is composed of plastic sheets with thickness of only a few millimeters to 20 microns. The structure is very precise, and the welding process can be realized through mask welding.
It is a medical catheter. Due to the different requirements of material and softness in use according to the different contact parts, the laser welded medical catheter has high connection strength and good surface continuity. Some of the plastic parts need to be welded to achieve the purpose of connection. Laser welding can ensure the biocompatibility, stability, corrosion resistance, pressure resistance and sealing of the products after welding because of its non-contact, precise and firm weld and other characteristics.
